Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956, is an American actor. He is well-known for his comedic and dramatic role. Hanks is an American popular culture icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born in Concord, California, to Janet Marylyn a hospital worker as well as Amos Mefford Hanks, an itinerant cook. His mother was originally named "Fraga" and his father was predominantly English. Tom grew up in an unnamed family that he considers "fractured". He has no acting experience at the college level and credits the fact that he could not be cast in a college production as the reason he did not begin his career. He went downtown, and auditioned for a community theater play, was given an invitation by the director the show to visit Cleveland, and there the beginning of his acting career took off.
